We are delighted to launch Application Round 2 of the OCEAN Grant programme! ?? OCEAN provides support to locally-led projects that aim to deliver lasting change to the marine environment and coastal communities worldwide.? This time around, we will be prioritising projects that put gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) at their centre. ??? OCEAN colleagues from @DefraGovUK had the pleasure of visiting OCEAN Grantee Berikanprenuer in Indonesia earlier this month. The project aims to educate and equip the local community with the skills needed to address pollution caused by discarded fish waste in Eretan Kulon Village. We had the pleasure of meeting Kohdijah and the team, who warmly welcomed us and shared their enthusiasm for the project. Highlights included watching products being prepared and visiting the factory where we learned about the zero-waste production of fish protein powder, benefiting both local communities and farming industries. ????? https://loom.ly/1UHKZtc

This week, experts, entrepreneurs, and community leaders are gathering at the Regeneration Ocean Week in Tanzania to chart a path toward a regenerative ocean economy. OCEAN Grantee, Aqua Farms Organization (AFO) project is addressing issues of overfishing and habitat degradation by working with local communities to strengthen co-management, habitat restoration, and eco-tourism. ??? https://loom.ly/i4Ow0nY Another OCEAN Grantee Sea Sense NGO is tackling the drivers of ocean degradation by engaging with small-scale fishers, women, and young people involved the fisheries value chain. https://loom.ly/iu8gqjo #RegenerationOceanWeek

In coastal communities, marginalised groups are more vulnerable to the effects of climate change and environmental degradation. Systemic and historical barriers also limit their access to resources and put them at more risk of multi-dimensional poverty.
