The O'Brien Atkins team started the morning with an incredible celebration- the new Durham School of the Arts Groundbreaking Ceremony! This ceremony celebrates the start of construction on the new facility for the Durham School of the Arts which is expected to open in 2026. The project features a consolidated campus, dedicated spaces for various music and band functions, a concert hall, theater wing with various performing arts classrooms, gym facilities, and sports fields. About 2,000 students across grades 6-12 will occupy the new campus. Huge thank you to all who have been involved in this project, including but not limited to: Perkins&Will, Balfour Beatty US, Monteith Construction Corp., Right Build International, Durham County Government, Durham Public Schools, CATE Services, and many others. We are looking forward to seeing this project come to life and serve the community!

O'Brien Atkins's leader of business development, Jim Nichols, attended the Go Global NC Global Advantage Forum today! This event draws leaders from various sectors across North Carolina to discuss global opportunities and successes for North Carolina. Jim particularly enjoyed the panel on the Role of Global Engagement in North Carolina, featuring Laura Rowley of North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech) as moderator, Becky Levine with Kyowa Kirin, Inc.- U.S., Sara Lawrence with RTI International, Jonathan Kegerise with CSL Seqirus, and Ian Jepson with Syngenta. The panel members discussed the benefits of our state and region in attracting and retaining the talent needed to support their research and technology. This year's event was extra special as Go Global NC celebrates 45 years. Jim was proud to be a part of the celebration and he looks forward to the next Gobal Advantage Forum!

Jo?o A Correia, AIA, CSI, CDT, CCCA brings over 25 years of experience and will serve as Manager of Technical Documentation. He is a licensed architect in New York and has over 25 years of experience across a wide range of project sectors. His expertise and leadership will help ensure project success! The Life Sciences Economic Development Summit attracts attendees from all over North Carolina, offering valuable insights from leaders in the life sciences sector. This year's event features an array of expert panels, including a session focused on how collaborations in life sciences can foster thriving communities. Our team is working hard and making great progress on the Wake County Public Health project! O'Brien Atkins is pleased to announce that Matt Addis, PE, has joined the firm as Director of Mechanical Engineering! Matt has more than 10 years of complex engineering experience as a Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager. He has extensive experience in the design of pharmaceutical, laboratory, higher education, and commercial facilities. As Director of Mechanical Engineering, Matt is responsible for mechanical engineering, client contact and maintenance, technical development, and oversight of engineering projects.
