Delighted to share Episode 2 of Funded Audio, a series of six interviews we did this summer with leading Midwest-based acquisition entrepreneurs. August Felker grew up in St. Louis in a family with deep roots in the insurance industry. August learned about search funds and ETA early in his career and raised a traditional search fund and acquired Murphy Insurance, which he built and sold to HUB International in 2015. But, that’s not the end of August’s story. In 2019, he acquired another small insurance brokerage based in St. Louis in a self-funded search, which he renamed Oberle Risk Strategies, and which he operates today. August discusses the value of having a sales background and having a positive attitude when commencing a small business search, and also discusses why he focused on finding a business proprietarily. August is just an awesome guy and a leader in the St. Louis ETA / SMB space, and I’m thrilled to share his story with you.
