Meet Ed & Bonnie, a couple whose love has stood the test of time. Their journey began as teenage neighbors, and for Bonnie, it was love at first sight. After a year and a half of dating, Ed proposed on Christmas Eve, and they danced to "Put Your Head on My Shoulder." ?? Through Ed’s service in the Navy and Bonnie’s dedication as a nurse, they stayed by each other’s side, building a beautiful life together. Their secret to a lasting marriage? Friendship, communication, and compassion. Today, with 4 boys, 9 grandchildren, and 5 (soon to be 6!) great-grandchildren, their love story continues to inspire. This Valentine’s Day, we celebrate Ed, Bonnie. and the rest of our OSL family members who have been a display of what true love looks like!

Love knows no age! ?? This Valentine's Day, we celebrate the friendships, memories, and cherished moments that have built the Oaks Senior Living story. To do that, we want to share a couple of special love stories from those that call our communities home! Larry and Eleanor White have shared a beautiful journey together for 55 years. Their love story began in Columbus, GA, while working at Big Star grocery—Larry as the store manager and Eleanor as the deli manager. At the time, Larry was a single father of two daughters, and both had been through previous marriages. But fate had other plans. After dating for a while, they tied the knot on March 9, 1969, at Sherwood Baptist Church. A year later, they bought their first home and built a life together, raising two more daughters. Over the years, their family grew—four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, all of whom they cherish deeply. The Whites have traveled the world together—Hawaii, Europe three times—and make it a tradition to rent a beach house every summer so their family can gather and make lasting memories. When asked about their love, Larry simply says he loves Eleanor because she is a good woman and a great cook, while Eleanor admires Larry for being a wonderful man and provider. This past year was one of their hardest, as both were hospitalized in separate hospitals. But by the grace of God, they are together once again, now calling Oaks at Maple Ridge their home. Their love story is one of resilience, faith, and unwavering devotion. ??

As active members of the GA seniors housing community, Oaks is committed to continuing to advocate on behalf of our industry to help promote positive change both for our residents as well as our community teams and investor groups.

We had the wonderful opportunity to host a number of our new Oaks Senior Living team members for our new year orientation. This time is more than just introducing individuals to a role, it serves as a strategic meeting orienting our teams to the culture of Oaks, and the tactical ways in which we make that culture a reality for our residents, families, and staff.
