Oakland Public Works staff work hard every day to make our streets cleaner. But we’re not just picking up litter—we’re also tracking down dumpers and holding them accountable. Our Environmental Enforcement Unit issued a $1000 fine for this recent case of illegal dumping in East Oakland. Fines for illegal dumping can reach: ? $750 for a 1st offense ? $1000 for a 2nd ? $1500 for 3+ And that's not all—dumpers also have to pay for the cleanup. In the most serious cases—where we find hazardous materials, high volume commercial dumping, or frequent ongoing violations—the total fine can be many thousands more. See dumping? Say something. If you have a tip that could help us identify a dumper, include it in your OAK311 service request. https://hubs.la/Q02YrZ7c0

You could hold the key to shutting down a repeat illegal dumper in your neighborhood. Always report dumping to OAK311, and if you have photos or information that could help us identify the person responsible, include it in your service request. This could be a physical description, vehicle model, license plate number, or even something as simple as a photo of an address label on a discarded package. Footage from home or business surveillance cameras can also be submitted as evidence. Report online at https://hubs.la/Q02WH7w60 or dial 3-1-1 or (510) 615-5566 to speak with a staff member. Let’s hold dumpers accountable. See dumping? Say something.
