In Fall 2024, Oakland Promise joined forces with the Oakland Children's Initiative (OCI), Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), and California State University (CSU), to host the first ever OUSD CSU College Day! Held at Fremont High School, this historic event was a game-changer! For the very first time, ALL 23 CSU campuses came together in Northern California to inspire and empower our youth. As a member of the Oakland Promise Youth Advisory Board, I had the opportunity to be a panelist at the Oakland Postsecondary Education and Workforce Collaboration Summit, where I joined other youth in sharing our experiences navigating education and career pathways in Oakland. It was incredible to work alongside Oakland leaders, local colleges, and community organizations. Together, we created a space for meaningful conversations about increasing access to postsecondary education and workforce development opportunities. I learned so much about the pathways available to students, and it was truly inspiring to witness the collective effort to build a more inclusive and supportive future for Oakland's youth. #YouthEmpowerment?#CommunityBuilding?#EducationOpportunities Oakland Promise

As a member of the Youth Advisory Board with Oakland Promise, I had the opportunity to speak on a panel at the Oakland Postsecondary Education and Workforce Collaboration Summit event. I had the incredible opportunity to play a role, engage, and learn with fellow Oakland leaders, local community colleges, and non-profit organizations. Together, we created a space for conversations where we contributed ideas on expanding access to postsecondary education, including workforce development opportunities for Oakland youth. I learned so much from other’s experiences and was inspired by them. There are many pathways and resources available to students and it was super engaging to see the collective effort to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for Oakland youth??
