Oaken is pleased to announce the appointment of Ronald Dunker (Ron) as our new Head of Business Development. Ron brings decades of diverse experience in the agricultural industry, having held key roles in crop protection, research and development, and commercial sales of digital, seed, and chemistry products. Throughout his distinguished career, Ron has been an integral part of many groundbreaking advancements and launches in agricultural technology. Most recently, Ron managed Bayer's North America Farmland Management Top Producer sector, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision. He was an active member of numerous state ASFMRA chapters and the National American Society of Farm Managers. Ron’s outstanding contributions have earned him the Merit Award at Bayer for business growth and development and an ASFMRA award for outstanding service to customers for which he is prouder. We are excited to welcome Ron’s expertise and leadership to our team, as we continue to drive Oaken’s growth and innovation in the agricultural technology field. I was just asked for my thoughts on farm land values given the low commodity prices and headwinds on the horizon (declining demand, global over supply, etc...). Here is my farm land outlook: I see a gradual slide in land prices due to commodity prices and over supply. Good farm land holds up better especially if water isn't an issue. Marginal farm land reverts away from farming and gets cheap. When? Probably next couple years. Right now the huge pile of money investors hold, government payments propping up ag, and inflation fears are propping up farm land (farm land is a 1-1 inflation hedge). I'm no farm land real estate expert but Howard Halderman is. I host the quarterly "Maximize Your Farmland" series -- each episode begins with a market update on farm property.
