This month, we at Oak City Cares mourn and remember those who have died by suicide as a result of experiencing homelessness. Time and again, the circumstances surrounding homelessness lead friends in our community to take their own lives. The strain on mental health as a result of losing housing, at an increasing rate, is leads vital members of our communities to take their own lives. Preventing suicide is more than awareness. Prevention means community, coming alongside those who are forgotten, healthcare, housing, and systemic support.
