Sometimes our land-grant mission shines brightest in crisis. Over the weekend, as many mourned the loss of everything they own, we provided flights to support emergency efforts, and we’ll continue to assist first responders as new fires start. Beyond that, each of us — neighbors helping neighbors — plays a vital role in our community’s recovery, whether through donations, volunteering, emotional support, or sharing resources. This is the essence of the Cowboy Spirit: we are problem-solvers, mentors, first responders, and friends. Let’s continue combining knowledge with compassion, and please support those in need as they rebuild.

Last month, The Oklahoma National Guard and OAIRE co-hosted second annual UAS & Launched Effects Symposium in OKC! Experts in defense, policy and research gathered to tackle evolving drone threats and the future of unmanned aerial systems. Dr. Jamey Jacob emphasized the rapid advancements in AI, 3D printing, and sensors, urging collaboration to stay ahead. While Lt. Col. Brent Hill & Col. Shane Riley highlighted Oklahoma’s leadership in counter-UAS training and defense strategies within our National Guard.
