Thanks to Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, we successfully established our non-traditional DOL-approved Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) for Office Services Specialists (OSS), bringing together talent from diverse industries!
Today on National Apprenticeship week, we are proud to spotlight The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership (The Partnership)! The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership (The Partnership) is the non-profit umbrella organization that operates the largest public workforce system in the country. As the designated administrator of federal workforce development funding for the City of Chicago and Cook County, The Partnership oversees a network of approximately 70 community-based organizations, American Job Centers, satellite sites, and sector-driven centers. The organization also oversees a diverse portfolio of workforce initiatives utilizing other public, corporate, and philanthropic funds. The Partnership’s work with apprenticeships tracks that of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship Program model, which continues to evolve and expand from a traditional workforce development trades-driven solution to include non-traditional industry sectors and occupations across the country. Over the past program year, The Partnership was awarded an 'Apprenticeship Illinois' grant. The grant funds promotion to regional industry sector business communities and employers about the benefits and value of adopting an apprenticeship career path model to develop a talent pipeline for their respective workforces. As a result, 40 career seekers were enrolled into Department of Labor certified registered apprenticeship programs; that number is expected to grow for job seekers and employers within all industry sectors. GovState serves as a U.S. Department of Labor Apprentice Ambassador and is an active participant on the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board's Apprenticeship Committee. Through these roles, GovState is deeply committed to advancing workforce development and promoting apprenticeship programs as a pathway to sustainable careers. GovState has successfully implemented and expanded apprenticeship programs within the supply chain sector, collaborating with businesses in the Chicago Southland and Will County regions. This #VeteransDay, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have served in our military. But beyond the celebration, it's also a powerful reminder of the incredible potential that veterans bring to the workforce. According to The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics about 1 in 20 civilian workers in the U.S. is a veteran. Veterans possess a unique set of skills—leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience—that can be a transformative asset to any organization. As we recognize their service, let's also focus on expanding opportunities for veterans in civilian careers. Let's commit to not just thanking veterans for their service, but to actively empowering them as they continue to serve their communities and contribute to the strength of our economy. #VeteransDay #WorkforceDevelopment #VeteranTalent #Leadership #Inclusion #CareerOpportunities
