The world of timber construction in North America is awe-inspiring: I've just returned from a tour through projects and networks in the #USA, and all I can say is "Oh, Wow!"
And I say this because oWOW is not just the signature of the studio behind its creation, but also the first reaction I had visiting this incredible building, the tallest #MassTimber structure on the West Coast, the 1510 Webster in Oakland, San Francisco.
Designed by OWOW, a visionary engineering and architecture studio, it is supported by six types of PILLAR connectors custom-developed for the column sizes and adapted to the local seismic regulations: a work of technical support and development that Rothoblaas provided with strong conviction, earning the title of "game changer" from our friend Andy Ball.
Seeing it in person was breathtaking, a #building that will set a precedent, and has helped establish a network of high-level sharing.
It was with great pleasure that I also visited the Owow headquarters, where #wood and design reign supreme, and through technical studios, partner and client offices, historic sites, I made my way to the International Mass Timber Conference in Portland, with Hannes Blaas serving as guide.
The feeling I bring home is that of working within a #network of professionals driven by a deep passion, who will change the future of #construction, one mass #timber pillar at a time.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone I met and who accompanied me on this memorable journey!
