  • STEBA members recently toured Wildflower Studios, a high-performance TV and film production facility, founded by Adam Gordon and Robert De Niro, in Queens, NY. During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore sets, dressing rooms, hair and makeup areas, freight elevators, and more. A special thank you to Alex Cress and Cheryl Huggins for providing an incredible tour and informative session, and to Anushka Dhar and Ava Waldman for organizing this fantastic experience!

  • STEBA hosted our sixth Professional event of the semester “Film, Film Festivals, and Beyond: Building Impact Beyond the Screen,” including panelists Lee Meltzer, from SXSW, Lee Meltzer Consulting, Faridah Gbadamosi, from the Tribeca Film Festival, Joseph Hernandez , from the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival and SXSW, and Miriam Garcia from the Tribeca Film Festival. The panelists shared insights from their careers in film programming, festival management, and film marketing and publicity, shedding light on the strategic and creative approaches that drive successful film festivals and film marketing campaigns. Students gained a deeper understanding of how programming decisions and promotional strategies come together to elevate films and create impactful festival experiences.   • Last week, STEBA hosted our fifth Professional event of the semester, “Behind The Media: Unveiling the World of Music PR and Artists"?alongside NYU’s Communications Club. The event included a fireside chat, with Executive Vice President of Media And Artist Relations at Republic Records, Joseph Carozza Students were provided detailed insight into the many intricacies involved in PR, as well as how media relations contributes to the larger marketing and development on an artist project. A special thank you to our incredible speaker Joe Carozza, as well as our moderator Sathvika Ganesan for this discussion.   • STEBA hosted our third Professional event of the semester “Creative Marketing in the Entertainment Industry,” including panelists Chris Harnick from HBO, JC Alvarez from Paramount, Mackenzie Jacob from Ticketmaster, and Cedric D.   • STEBA hosted our second professional event of the semester: a panel on “The Business of Producing”, featuring acclaimed panelists Chris Durrance, Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker, Alexander Robertson, Tony Award nominated producer, and Eric Kohn, multimedia producer and development executive at EDGLRD. The panelists discussed their career journeys, responsibilities and roles as producers in various facets of the entertainment industry, including aspects related to financing, production, the balance between creativity and business, and the future of the industry. Students passionately engaged with the panelists during the audience Q&A and beyond, allowing them to deepen their passion for the entertainment industry.   • Here’s part two of our recap of our Inaugural Summit with NBCUniversal, featuring our workshop sessions! ? During our 4 workshops, students stepped into the shoes of a creative producer with Tom Glinkowski, learned about NBC Sports’ marketing tactics for the Paris 2024 Olympics with Jennie Thompson, worked through film data spreadsheets with Cecily Exline & Rachel Niswander, and received tips & tricks for taking the next steps in their entertainment careers from Christina Noval.   • Thank you for an incredible first Summit with NBCUniversal! As we're coming up on one month since STEBA's biggest event of the year, here’s a look back on how we spent the first half of the day. A special thanks to our Keynote Speaker, NBC News anchor Savannah Sellers, and our Fireside Chat Speaker, CEO of EDEN Productions and Former Chairman & CEO of HBO Richard Plepler, who helped us kick off the event and set the tone for a full day of entertainment and media career development, as well as all of our panelists. With our panelists, we gained insight on a variety of perspectives on the future of the entertainment industry and received advice on how to break into careers in entertainment—from discussing content development with our executive panelists Mark Gordon, Ryan Heller, and Christine Vachon; to learning about audience engagement in the music industry with Jessica Carei and Bailey Gore; to exploring the expanding streaming landscape with Suzanne Bruderman, Emily Kwok, and Sean O'Neill. Exploring Corporate Roles Within the Media Industry,” including expert panelists, Ryan Shapiro, of Warner Bros. Discovery, Kyle Gordon, of PlayStation Studios, Susan Fricke of Muus Collective, and Alexandra Takei, of Ruckus Games. The panel discussed the intersection of the entertainment and gaming industries, including aspects related to finance, content development, licensing, and venture capital. Students learned about the gaming industry's future and how to find their passions within the entertainment world.
