The connections between Tulsa and New York keep growing and deepening. Can you spot the NYU Tulsa merch in the last photo?
"Tulsa's Rolling!" City of Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols put it best when describing economic development in Tulsa on NYSE TV. This past week in New York City with the Mayor and Tulsa Regional Chamber Executive Vice President Justin McLaughlin was a great opportunity to share Tulsa's story. We also got to see (and hold!) the actual key to the city former Mayor G.T. Bynum gave the cast of "The Outsiders: A New Musical" on Broadway. It was great to see some of the cast members and we can't wait for the nationwide tour to open in Tulsa this Fall. There's lots happening back home in Tulsa as well! ? The Big 12 Conference Wrestling Championship returns next week March 8-9 for its 9th straight year. ? Tulsa Tulsa IrishFest comes to Dream Keepers Park March 7-9, bringing Celtic arts, music, and culture. Make sure to register your company for the new Oklahoma Ireland Business Conference on Friday night of the festival! ? The Bob Dylan Center and Woody Guthrie Center debut their new exhibit featuring props from the new film "A Complete Unknown". Don't forget Bob Dylan himself plays Tulsa Theater on March 25th! If you're looking to help tell Tulsa's story yourself, remember to take our new SavvyTulsa Tourism Ambassador program at savvytulsa.com. Gathering Place currently holds the lead for the most Savvy Tulsans on their team. Happy Friday and Stay Gold!

Hear directly from one of our students about her experience at NYU Tulsa thus far!
It has been a month since I arrived on the NYU Tulsa campus, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of the first spring cohort here. It's been an exciting adventure learning about a city outside of NYC. Born and raised in New York, I needed a break from the hustle and bustle, and Tulsa has proven to be the perfect place for me to find myself and explore a new corner of the U.S. I'm currently enrolled in several fascinating courses: Native Arts in the Contemporary World with Dr. Lindsey Smith, Tulsa: Revitalizing an American City with Dr. Luke Lawson, Pathways to Clean Energy Economy with Prof. Kelsey Putman Hughes, and Experiential Learning Seminar with Dr. Stewart Habig. These courses are providing me with valuable insights into Tulsa’s culture, history, and economy. I especially appreciate how our professors have created a learning environment tailored to our needs, allowing us to connect with the city on a deeper level. Not only are we learning in the classroom, but we’re also taking field trips to enhance our experiences. I’ve had the chance to visit the Bob Dylan Museum to learn about Jesse Ed Davis and his influence on rock 'n roll, and we attended the Red Dirt Boogie concert to honor his legacy. My favorite moment was Act 2, when Taj Mahal made an appearance! I also experienced my first film festival at the Indian Territory Film Festival, where we watched Seeds and met Dallas Goldtooth and other Reservation Dogs cast members. And today, we have an exciting trip planned to Bentonville, Arkansas, which I’m super excited about! In addition to my courses, I have the incredible opportunity to intern at the Philbrook Museum in the collections department. There, I’m learning about planning, executing, and reporting on exhibitions, while receiving hands-on experience with SketchUp software and contributing to a future exhibition. The team at Philbrook has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, and I am truly grateful for the chance to grow and learn in such a dynamic environment. This internship aligns with my passion for audience-based design, particularly in creating physical spaces like parks and museums that engage and inspire the public. It’s a great opportunity to build the skills needed for a career in playful, interactive design that centers on the experience of the audience. Outside of classes and work, there have been so many fun activities! I learned the Tulsa Two-Step at Tulsey Town, and we danced for hours. The food here is amazing—especially the Lunar New Year pop-up at Hong Kong Diner, where I tried Tan Den Man and Thai Tea-Ramisu (I wish I had another slice right now ??). We also had a movie night watching Twister (don’t worry, no tornado chasing!) with pizza from Empire Slice House, and created vision boards reflecting on our goals for the semester! I’m excited to continue exploring and experiencing everything Tulsa has to offer over the next few months!
