Today, DHR Commissioner Denise M. Miranda, Esq. joined Governor Kathy Hochul in East Flatbush, Brooklyn along with NYC Councilmember Farah Louis, Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte, and other partners in government to visit & show support for businesses in "Little Haiti", one of the largest Haitian communities in the United States. Commissioner Miranda also joined Governor Hochul, Secretary of State Hon. Walter Mosley, SLA Chair Lily Fan, for a roundtable discussion with faith leaders & elected officials at Brooklyn Borough Hall on working together to strengthen communities. DHR leadership also visited our Brooklyn Regional Office & Office of Sexual Harassment Issues today to discuss how we can further advance our mission of eliminating discrimination, remedying injustice, and promoting equal opportunity, access, and dignity.

Yesterday, Chair Lily Fan and Zone 3 Director Jill Clark were at the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce for a roundtable conversation with local licensees. Thank you to Bob Duffy and the business owners/representatives who attended for the fantastic conversation and questions!

This week, Chair Lily Fan and Executive staff attended the New York State Liquor Store Association's Regional Trade Shows in both Albany and Buffalo. It was a great opportunity to speak to NYSLSA leadership as well as industry partners! In Buffalo, we even got to meet an owl! ??

This week, Governor Hochul signed landmark legislation that allows New York’s small craft manufacturers of spirits, cider, and mead to ship directly to consumers. The newly signed law opens significant opportunities for the state’s growing craft beverage industry by providing a vital market expansion tool—allowing these producers to ship their unique products directly to consumers within New York and across state lines!
