Today, NYSDOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez spoke at the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority’s press conference celebrating the rollout of its first hydrogen fuel cell-powered buses, a historic milestone for NYS. The $5 million Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality grant administered by NYSDOT enabled the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority to purchase two hydrogen fuel cell buses, marking the first time this has happened with a public bus fleet in the state, with more in the works. Investments like these will pave the way towards a future in line with the Governor's vision, where our communities are more connected, our transportation networks are more accessible to everyone, and our carbon footprint is smaller.

We kicked off the day with a beautiful sunrise post, and now we’re wrapping it up with this sunset view over the I-81 Viaduct project in Syracuse. ?? Crews continue to work hard along I-690 near Crouse and Irving Avenues, driving sheet piles for a temporary retaining wall at the Crouse Avenue bridge.

Proactive preparation is key to effective emergency management, and NYSDOT is committed to being ready for winter. Recently, we conducted comprehensive Incident Command System (ICS) training at our Geneseo Residency to simulate a snow and ice emergency. Over 200 NYSDOT team members and partnering agencies participated, mobilizing equipment and running through real-time scenarios that tested our coordination, logistics, and response strategies. The annual exercise is critical in ensuring we’re fully prepared when winter arrives, fostering collaboration across departments to maintain safe roadways under the most extreme conditions. Proud of our team’s dedication to readiness and the hard work that goes into planning for future emergencies.
