?? New York Hall of Science is grateful for our partnership with NBCUniversal and the way they support our youth! During a recent inspiring trip, NYSCI's Explainers were paired with NBCU Mentors and they presented solutions to some of NBCU's modern business challenges. They specifically discussed how some of their problems could be solved with artificial intelligence. NYSCI leaders Danny Clase and Priya Mohabir led the way. Our Explainers were also able to tour Saturday Night Live's iconic studio and to learn about different STEM career paths that exist at NBCUniversal. We are thrilled that we are able to further support our Explainers' growth by providing access to diverse STEM companies and professionals outside of our walls, and we are ever grateful to partners like NBCU for making it possible!

The exhibition “Mathematica” has taken visitors on a journey around the world via the wonders of math since 1961 when it first opened at the California Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles. We are excited to have now cut the ribbon on a restored and reimagined "Mathematica" exhibition, which we hope you all will visit soon! The reimagined exhibition, which has been on permanent display at NYSCI since 2004, specifically draws on NYSCI’s Design Make Play approach and explores the power and beauty of mathematics to describe and illuminate our world. Created by Ray and Charles Eames, "Mathematica" was the first interactive exhibition to be devoted entirely to mathematics. IBM unveiled replicas of the original exhibition during the 1964-'65 World’s Fair – brining attention to it on an international level. The exhibition features an early computer model, a history of mathematics, and a survey of what math even is. For example, most people are surprised to learn that the world of numbers only represents one percent of the world of mathematics! We are grateful that IBM and the Eames Office have supported us in this re-launch of “Mathematica," so that we can more fully contextualize the exhibition’s exhibits and its history for audiences today. It was quite something to experience the joy of Pre-K students as they laid their curious eyes on the first harvest of our Hydroponics exhibition - basil leaves ??. We were so excited to have the cute class join us from Queens' PS 369. We give heartfelt thanks to our CEO and President Lisa J. Gugenheim for taking time out of her busy schedule to help the children fill their baskets and to New York Sun Works for making this all possible!
