关于我们
The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) promotes the mental health and well-being of all New Yorkers. Our mission is to facilitate recovery for young to older adults receiving treatment for serious mental illness, to support children and families in their social and emotional development and early identification of serious emotional disturbances, and to improve the capacity of communities across New York to achieve these goals. New York State has a large, multi-faceted mental health system that serves more than 700,000 individuals each year. OMH operates psychiatric centers across the state, and regulates, certifies, and oversees more than 4,500 programs that are operated by local governments and nonprofit agencies. These programs include various inpatient and outpatient programs, emergency, community support, residential, and family care programs. South Beach Psychiatric Center graduated the inaugural class of its nurse residency program today. The six graduates spent a year working alongside experienced nurses at the facility and doing additional class work to increase their training in the field. Established by OMH in 2021, the nurse residency program is now operating at all the agency’s psychiatric centers. Addressing the graduates today, Dr. Sullivan spoke of the critical role they are serving in helping New Yorkers living with mental illness and the importance of building healthy communities for them to live in through recovery. “You are a piece of that continuum,” she told the graduates, “so please be very proud of that role.”
