New York City was honored with the "Best foreign Green Destination" prize by Gruppo Italiano Stampa Turistica (GIST) at BIT, Milan's tourism fair, on February 10. The award was collected by Alice Pinna, NYC Tourism + Conventions' Italy Trade Account Manager. A panel of expert media judges selected NYC as the best example of a sustainable and eco-friendly city, citing: "The Green Guide to NYC invites you to visit sustainable venues and restaurants, farmers' markets and to explore the city and the five boroughs by bicycle - along over 1,500 km of cycle paths and paths - , on foot and by public transport. Tourists are involved in the NYC Carbon Challenge, an initiative that sees hotels committed to reducing building emissions by 30 percent by 2050. Among the must dos, the High Line, the elevated urban park built on the disused West Side Line elevated railway line: an example of urban redevelopment that well expresses the new green soul of the metropolis."

One of the most important tools for Black people in US history was started here in New York City: Harlem resident Victor Green created The Green Book in 1936 as a printed resource for Black travelers. Despite the movie of the same name, many people don't realize the guide's New York roots. Documentarian, archivist, and author Candacy Taylor is on a mission change that and reintroduce the story to the world.

Our Tourism Development team recently had the honor of hosting a FAM trip from Colombia, welcoming a group of professionals from FROSCH Colombia, a company renowned for its expertise and leadership in the Colombian travel industry. Throughout this experience, we showcased the vibrant energy of the boroughs, collaborating closely with our members to create an unforgettable and authentic NYC experience. Together, we will continue to strengthen the City's position as a premier destination for Colombian travelers—whether for leisure, corporate, or luxury travel. Last week, New York City Tourism + Conventions hosted a press breakfast in Mexico City, engaging with more than 40 top-tier media members across travel, lifestyle, and trade publications to share What’s New and Upcoming in New York City. The event also marked the first international press appearance of President and CEO Julie Coker since joining the organization in December 2024. ? Mexico remains a vital market for New York City, ranking as the eighth-largest international source of visitors. By the end of 2025, the City expects to welcome 608,000 travelers from Mexico—an 11 percent year-over-year increase and a 23 percent rise compared to 2019. ? New York City Tourism + Conventions looks forward to continuing to strengthen ties with this key market and welcoming more visitors to experience the City.
