I had the honor of being recognized at the 2025 Career and Technical Education Awards Ceremony hosted by the United Federation Of Teachers, hosted on February 26th. As stated by the UFT, CTE is one of the most dynamic sectors of New York City public schools, due to educators consistently having to align with ever changing workforce needs. As a High School Computer Science Teacher in only his 2nd year working in the NYC Department of Education, I feel ecstatic to have been recognized for such a great award. Investing in the next generation It takes time, but it's worth it... I recently visited John Dewey High School to speak with a group of students about my career pathway, Northwell Health, industry trends, and the skills they’ll need to thrive in the workforce. Engaging with students at this stage is critical. When young minds get the chance to interact with professionals in their field of interest, it broadens their perspectives, sparks curiosity, and provides a real-world connection to their education. Their thoughtful questions showed just how much they’re thinking about their futures—and that gives me hope. A huge thank you to Ken L. for organizing such a great event, to the other industry speakers for sharing their insights, and to the culinary students for preparing a fantastic lunch. Special shoutout to Heather Adelle for her leadership and dedication to these students' growth. These moments remind me why I do what I do—helping to create opportunities, build bridges, and support the growth of future leaders.
