On a Friday evening in October, Jennifer Courtley Lory-Moran '96, MAT '97, checks the clock; she still has a few minutes before her performance begins. She sets out the sheet music for her first song—"Marzipan" from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite—on the stand above the keyboard. Then, just after the hour strikes six, she begins to serenade her audience—which comprises everyone on East Hill who’s within earshot of McGraw Tower. It's just one of the hundreds of concerts that Lory-Moran has played from this perch, far above Cayuga’s waters. A chimesmaster since her first year on the Hill, she has long served as the program’s advisor. More on Lory-Moran — and a major milestone in the chimes-playing world she recently marked — at https://lnkd.in/ghUJpdrq.

Wednesday, October 8, 1997. Cornell students, faculty and staff walking by McGraw Tower looked up and noticed something...a little out of place: a large pumpkin impaled on the spire 173 feet up. Shrouded in mystery, no one is quite sure how it got up there, yet rumors persist to this day. One thing is certain, though. We can definitively say: "It is a pumpkin!" Thanks for participating Molly Mandel! We are so excited for our upcoming fundraising #NYCMarathon event. Let's support all our runners!
In less than two weeks, I will be running the 2024 NYC Marathon with NYC Cornellians! We are fundraising for undergraduate scholarships, helping NYC students with financial need attend Cornell. Cornell has shaped my life in countless ways, and I'm excited to support future students. If you're able to contribute, I'd love your support in making a difference for future Cornellians. Go Big Red, and hope to see you on November 3!

?? I visited Zinck's grave this morning, Zinck's Night is tonight, Cornellians gather in cities all around the world, in his memory. Theodore Zinck owned an Ithaca bar in the 1890s, a popular spot for Cornell students, Zinck remembered everyone who came to his bar, and he created a welcoming atmosphere when Cornellians return to Ithaca Thousands of Cornellians will go to Zinck's Night gatherings all around the world tonight: Colombia, Chile, Ireland, Dallas, Japan, Spain, Charlotte, Shanghai, Milwaukee, Austria, and more! It is an important reminder of how the local Ithaca establishments create a wonderful experience for Cornellians, the importance of strong positive connection between Cornell and Ithaca!!
