Huge thanks to CUNY Tech Prep and Jose Jacob Arce (and Deutsche Bank) for hosting such a great event! Our Exec. Director Brendan Collins was lucky enough to appear on this panel in front of one of CUNY's strongest assets: its career services teams.
CTP and TTP facilitated an event for CUNY career professionals to gather and learn from the panel of industry professionals. Special thanks to Deutsche Bank & Jose Jacob Arce for the space and their volunteering.

Congratulations Pantry Pals and all those students at Borough of Manhattan Community College who participated in the AI Innovation Hackathon for good! Thank you for having the Tech Talent Pipeline to help judge the event. This hackathon illustrates some of the amazing innovation and experiential learning opportunities happening across the City University of New York.
On May 4th, the team I lead, Pantry Pals, was nominated for first place in BMCC’s 2024 AI Innovation Hackathon for social good. These moments when imagination turns into innovation define BMCC’s Hackathons; a chance to solve real-world problems. One of these problems was in our pantry: the Panther Station. Our motive was to improve the accessibility of food distribution, cater to student’s dietary needs, and reduce food waste resulting from preferences. How? We created Pantry Pals! A website made straight from scratch that integrated ChatGPT’s 3.5 API. It provided students with personalized produce recommendations and nutritional assistance based on their dietary needs. In addition, it was accessible as any other ordering app: You select, you request, you receive! Ultimately, our team, Emmanuel, Yangmei, and Lance, aimed to make the Panther Station more accessible. Our solution's next steps involve improving accessibility, by adding features such as text enlargement for those with visual impairments, and GPT voice chat for users with different accessibility needs. Truly, an amazing experience that would later translate into my future goal: Implementing AI to improve the lives of others. A thank you to Dr. Azhar for hosting the hackathon and to the mentors, Alexandra, Andrew, Lisa, and others for their assistance.
