I've been going to NY Code & Coffee since March. I have found a wonderful, vibrant community of NY coding enthusiasts, with a healthy mix of professionals, people transitioning into programming roles, and people starting to dip their toes into coding. Yesterday, I was able to give back by volunteering for the first time. During that experience: - I greeted people at the front desk and helped them sign in - I still had meaningful conversations and was able to roam around the event - I was able to use my enthusiasm for this event to engage newcomers and timid folks, helping some find their footing - I had multiple conversations about board games and making music, including one about an online synth I hadn't heard of It's always a blast to attend, and I'm so excited for the next one! And if you have a Code & Coffee branch in a city near you, I'd recommend checking it out! Also, shout-out to the friends I've made here who now recurrently meet with me at a nearby board game cafe before the event, including volunteers Raisa D. and Moses James, and Tina Le and Jonathan Days! You're what I love about C&C :)
Once again, thank you to everyone who attended NYC Code & Coffee yesterday - I hope you all enjoyed connecting and the coffee. Special thanks to our Venue Sponsor, The Yard: Space to Work for allowing us to use their Gowanus space in Brooklyn to host our community. Extra special thanks to Preston Law for hosting a workshop and for providing some great time management tips Check out some great pictures of the event taken by volunteers, Sarah A. and Moses James!
