?? **Maryland's Tech Sector: A Golden Opportunity in Procurement** ?? The latest Maryland Procurement Playbook reveals a striking insight into our industry: nearly half of our State's annual procurement spending goes to Professional Services and Information Technology. In CY 2023, the federal government awarded $16.5 billion, while the state government allocated $9.2 billion in contracts to these sectors. Kudos to the Comptroller of Maryland for taking on research-oriented and data-driven approaches toward educating Marylanders about our State’s economy as demonstrated by engaging Drexel University’s Nowak Metro Finance Lab to publish this report. The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) Midyear Conference was an impactful learning experience for NXT! The energy in the room was palpable and we witnessed the power of open dialog between the public and private sectors. Technologists and consultants working alongside leaders in State & Local Governments came together to discuss transformation initiatives that can serve as model examples for other States. We heard courageous experiences shared by State CIOs and CISOs about the challenges they face daily whether through cybersecurity incidents or complex modernization initiatives. Leaders from the States shared their strategies for overcoming the challenges – consistently prioritizing Citizen Experience. It was no surprise that Cybersecurity & Risk Management continues to be the number 1 priority of our industry!
