Teresa brings over 25 years of experience in agriculture, a field she has been dedicated to since April 1998. Originally from Mexico, Teresa graduated high school as a secretary before moving to the United States, where she earned her GED and continued to build her career in agriculture. Her dedication, expertise, and leadership are truly invaluable to our team. When she’s not hard at work, Teresa enjoys spending quality time with her family. Whether it’s walking along the river or mountains or simply gathering together, she cherishes moments with her loved ones. We’re grateful for everything Teresa contributes to NWFM and are proud to have her on our team. ?? Staff Spotlight: Noe Ayala ?? Meet Noe Ayala, a highly experienced Area Manager at NWFM who brings a wealth of knowledge in tree fruit farming! Originally from Mexico, Noe moved to the United States as a young boy and pursued college and aviation studies in Washington’s Tri-Cities area. With many years in the tree fruit industry, Noe has worked in both conventional and organic farming, building expertise in sustainable practices and biochar applications. His commitment to the environment and underserved communities in Washington fuels his dedication to his work. A natural problem solver, Noe embraces challenges, always focused on achieving results that benefit both the land and the industry. We’re grateful to have his experience and passion on the NWFM team!

It’s been a privilege to partner on the Washington State University Smart Orchard this past season, with some really great results arising from the collaboration. It’s a really great project run by Lav Khot and Bernardita Sallato. Excellent orchards hosted by NWFM, LLC under the watchful eye of Keith Veselka. (More details here:?https://lnkd.in/gQ86w3bJ) As we’re nearing the end of the season for 2024 we’re starting to compare results on this project with our other growers and researchers. The feedback so far has been fantastic: - Great accuracy on the data - Quick and easy to deploy, surveying at 1-2minutes/acre - Providing the maps, metrics and images that growers need - Saving costs and increasing fruit quality You can see in the maps below the results from one of 8 surveys carried out this season, showing the blossom loading, fruit loading, fruit counts and fruit sizes. We’re now able to look back through the season and the imagery to understand the impacts of decision made and prepare for next season, and there are several new projects in the pipeline for the Smart Orchard, Outfield and Tyton next season. All of the drone surveying for this project was expertly executed by Aaron Tyler of Tyton Aviation. Outfield and Tyton are partnering to deliver cutting edge and rapid drone surveys with data analytics for orchards across Washington State now. Our very own Keith Veselka, owner of NWFM, had the honor of participating in the panel for “Building Markets for Biochar” session with Qualterra ! Biochar offers incredible benefits — from enhancing soil health to serving as a filtration medium — yet establishing stable, profitable markets remains a challenge for producers.
