On February 5, a group of NWCU employees participated in Credit Union Day at the Capitol in Salem, OR. Organized by the GoWest Credit Union Association, credit union team members from across the state spent the day networking, receiving advocacy training, and actively engaging with state representatives on key issues to protect and improve the operating environment for credit unions and their members in Oregon. "My favorite moment was asking John Lively, our state representative from Springfield, Oregon, what questions he had for us! He had fun and enjoyed testing my knowledge of how credit unions impact our community. It was a great exchange, and we shared some laughs—challenge met!" - Grace S.

Mentors are obsolete, right? Wrong. The right mentor is more than a game changer. It’s the difference between the career you have and the career you want. We’ll prove it. ?? Because January is National Mentorship Month, we’ve compiled timeless tips for professional development. 1: Collaborate. Collaborate. Collaborate: Whether you’re networking or in the middle of project ideation, collaboration is key. Why? Because the right team produces better assets, each individual is able to hone in on their unique skills without trying to carry the slack in an area they aren’t specialized in. And, most importantly, collaboration leads to innovation. 2: Feedback helps you prosper: Feedback is almost a shortcut to advancing your career. Good feedback clearly highlights areas you can improve in and exactly which steps to take. Learn to accept and utilize quality feedback in all areas of your development. 3: Learning is a lifelong journey: There is always new knowledge, skills, and perspectives to be gained. Highly successful people understand that every day presents a new chance to learn and grow personally and professionally. 4: Find a career you can take pride in: You know the saying, “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” That said, getting into your dream career isn’t always possible. Finding a career you take pride in is an accessible option. 5: Learn to thrive under pressure: Somedays, your work is fun and exciting, and on other days, your work is just that - work. Being able to adapt and pivot depending on business needs is vital to your long-term success.?
