We are the regional planning organization for the Naugatuck Valley, consisting of nineteen municipalities in the greater Waterbury, CT area. We are one of nine state-designated planning regions in Connecticut. By helping municipalities work together, we tackle shared challenges such as transportation improvements, environmental issues, and community planning, creating a stronger and more connected region. The NVCOG strives to create and implement programs that better align the Naugatuck Valley to a changing future.

Do you have paints, cleaners, and other chemicals in your home that you need to dispose of? The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) and participating municipalities will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste and Paint Collection event on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The collection will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Naugatuck Transfer Station, 34 Andrew Avenue, Naugatuck, CT. The event is open to residents of the following communities: Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Derby, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Prospect, Seymour, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott, and Woodbury. On Monday, Thomaston High School students kicked off the Thomaston Plan of Conservation and Development Youth Summit. The Summit brought together students, local and state partners, town representatives, and NVCOG staff to shape Thomaston's future. Students engaged with information tables to learn from various government organizations, participated in discussions on local government, and worked in breakout groups to conduct a SWOT analysis of the Town. This is a collaborative effort between the Town of Thomaston, the Thomaston Board of Education, and the NVCOG.
