NV5 is honored to be on this award-winning team to provide structural design. In addition to being honored this year, the team was recognized in 2019 for Phase I of this project with the NAIOP New Development Project of the Year award and the AISC Ideas2 award, the structural steel industry’s highest design honor.

NV5 site/civil and structural engineers were part of the groundbreaking for the new Cape Fear Valley Health adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit in Lillington, NC. The one-story, 8,850-SF building is designed to provide help to patients ages 12 to 17 and their families. We are honored to be part of an amazing team working to build this healing facility. As a native Charlottean, I absolutely love the impact we have on our local future! In this industry, I would almost guarantee that at one time or another, all of us have driven by something and said "I helped with that", or "I worked on that!" This is another one of those moments... So incredibly proud of our Charlotte survey team at NV5! Led by Christopher Drye, PLS, we were tasked with working as a team to survey the existing O-Line/Northern Corridor Norfolk Southern Right of Way Charter and adjoining properties. A high priority task and accelerated schedule. A team was built with Colliers Engineering & Design led by John Gibson, PLS, and our incredible partners at CRS Survey PLLC, led by Cal Scheinert, PLS. Lots of coordination with all our partners at the City of Charlotte, CATS, several consultants, and Norfolk Southern. The 22-mile survey was completed on time and the City finalized the O-Line purchase. Paving the way to plan, design, and build the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Red Line Commuter Rail Project. We got the opportunity to get a picture with an incredible leader and Charlotte City Manager Marcus Jones at the celebration. The passion and energy that Mr. Jones, Liz Babson, and the rest of the City leadership put into their jobs and this community kept this project, and many more, moving in the right direction! The future of mobility is much brighter because of these efforts. Congratulations to all the folks who worked tirelessly to make the CLT Red Line a reality!

Following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene,?the NV5 Survey and Utility Services teams were assigned multiple critical emergency tasks in the Pigeon River Gorge area of I-40 in North Carolina through the NCDOT Location and Surveys contract. This 5-mile section, connecting North Carolina and Tennessee at the state line, suffered had multiple landslides and washouts caused by the hurricane. NV5 was contacted on a Monday and immediately mobilized their Survey and Utility Services teams. Their mission involved comprehensive surveying, mapping, assessment, video inspection, and reporting of the storm water systems to ensure accurate and detailed data and documentation of the storm system infrastructure along this stretch of the interstate. Leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, the teams expedited data and delivered precise results. The Utility Services team additionally provided NASCCO-certified reporting, essential for assessment and management of storm water infrastructure and determining necessary replacements. This effort was crucial in assessing the damage and restoration planning for the affected interstate section. NV5 delivered the requested data within the aggressive timeline, supporting efforts to reopen this vital stretch of I-40 as quickly as possible.

Roundabouts are versatile in size, shape, and design and can substantially reduce crashes that result in serious injury or death by promoting lower speeds, calming traffic, and reducing conflict points. In honor of Federal Highway Administration's #RoundaboutsWeek, here's a few of our recent roundabout projects. John Ward Road at Irwin Road, Cobb County, GA; I-95 widenings for NCDOT in Robeson County, NC (I-6064 and I-5987A,B); Eastway Drive at Shamrock Drive Intersection for City of Charlotte, NC; Water Street Improvements for NCDOT in Lumberton, NC (U-5524); Post Oak Tritt Road at Hembree Road in, Cobb County, GA; and NC 225/ SR 1164 (Erkwood Drive)/SR 1779 (Shepherd Street) for NCDOT in Hendersonville, NC. Roundabouts are one of the many intersection designs that NV5's roadway engineers, traffic engineers, and planners utilize to meet our clients goals.

It's always a great day to see a design taking shape and being one step closer to completion. Recently, we attending the topping out ceremony for the addition of the Steven D. Bell Hall at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. NV5 is part of the collaborative team working to make this project a reality. Our team provided site/civil engineering for the addition of the Steven D.
