When you think about sports teams, you're probably thinking about your favorite players, not always the people and operations behind the scenes. ?? Financial literacy, and accounting, are crucial skills in the sports industry. At a recent event hosted by the Center for Audit Quality & BDO, KPMG US, and the VA CPA, students got to learn about the diverse opportunities that are available to them by choosing a career in accounting. $15,000 in scholarships were awarded, with guest appearances by four NFL former players, including Jehu Chesson III, Cam Johnson, Jelani Jenkins and Dhani Jones. After attending the event, 98% of students said "yes" when asked if the experience made them consider how accounting could apply to their personal life or career. "This event made me realize that accounting is a very viable career path, especially for me because I like numbers!" ?

Environmental regulations in the US may shift significantly in the near future, but the benefits of incorporating sustainability into business strategy will remain. As Kari Stoever at CDP notes, “Only 10% of companies embed Earth-positive decision-making, but those that do report a 10% growth in market capitalization.” These gains are expected to come from factors like supply chain efficiencies, new opportunities, and increased resilience in a rapidly changing world. #climatechange #esg #sustainability
The snow—or lack thereof—told its own story in Davos this year. Conversations echoed the same urgency: a planet losing resilience, a dizzying pace of change, and the cascading impacts of climate, nature, and energy crises. Yet amidst the challenges, there were sparks of hope—innovative solutions, bold corporate action, and a shared resolve to act. In my reflections from the World Economic Forum, I explore the sobering realities, the growing gaps, and the emerging opportunities to align people, planet, and profits. The planet’s invoices are due—how we respond will define our future. Whatever your job, you can practice creativity in a multitude of ways. In fact, when it comes to *thinking* there are (at least) four different kinds of creativity:? ? 1??“integration, or showing that two things that appear different are the same” 2??“splitting, or seeing how things that look the same are actually different or more usefully divided into parts” 3??“figure-ground reversal, or realizing that what is crucial is not in the foreground but in the background” 4??“and distal thinking, which involves imagining things that are very different from the here and now” In practice, this means our minds can approach a problem using multiple perspectives and tools. We liked some of the examples in this Harvard Business Review on how to apply these different modes of thinking. Enjoy! https://lnkd.in/gbQ8XHY4?
“59% of those who budget for influencer marketing plan to increase those budgets in the next 12 months...” That’s the latest from Influencer Marketing Hub and an analysis from ADWEEK. While the TikTok ban mentioned in this article has not come to pass (for now), it’s still true that the importance of influencers will grow in 2025, even as the social media landscape shifts. Key trends to watch for include: 1?? Brands diversifying across channels to protect against audience losses due to future bans 2?? LinkedIn becoming a bigger space for influencers 3?? More traditionally-conservative or regulated industries like pharma finding a way to leverage social media 4??Increased expectations for measuring the results of influencers’ campaigns https://lnkd.in/dnNCJgMF #socialmedia #tiktokban #marketing
Let’s be real, 2025 has been off to a rough start for many. Uncertainty and stress in our personal lives and the wider world can sometimes overflow into our physical health, work, and relationships. But, grounding ourselves with meditations and reflection (or yelling into the void a bit ??) can help. We love these free resources Calm has collected to help you live with a bit more serenity. https://lnkd.in/ev6mGcXz #mentalhealth #wellbeing #worklifebalance
Recycled aluminum has only 5% of the greenhouse gas emissions of new aluminum. Unfortunately, only 30-45% of cans get recycled in the US, meaning we’re still missing out on drawing down a lot of emissions. However, a new project in Chicago is leveraging AI to help change that. LRS’s new Illinois waste management facility is using robots with AI-powered sorting capabilities to increase the number of cans saved from the landfill. While AI definitely has its environmental drawbacks (namely the space and energy used to keep AI servers running), it's encouraging to see this technology being used to improve our waste system. #ai #sustainability https://lnkd.in/gYmftyjW?
