Portugal champions plant-based protein strategy! ?? The Portuguese government has announced plans to promote a ‘low-carbon diet’ which will include encouraging the consumption of plant-based protein options as part of its updated National Energy and Climate Plan. The proposals include supporting self-sufficiency in protein crops and expanding plant-based catering in public canteens, as well as developing a plant-based protein strategy. This move is an important recognition of the role plant-based products play in boosting food security, and the EU and other European countries should pay close attention. ??
