Continuity of care from hospital to outpatient and private practice in-home visits is important for achieving individual goals, especially in the presence of challenges! Some new parents may feel like lactation care in the hospital is enough or all that can be provided. However, breastfeeding is a process with many phases and typically takes longer than 48 hours to learn. Options for care and support extend far beyond the hospital! It's been a great year! Here are Nurture's 2023 Highlights: 644 families served 1864 visits Expanded our team with 3 additional IBCLC contractors 7 new counties served with in-home lactation care for a total of 24 Ohio Counties Started a free monthly Prenatal Breastfeeding Class attended by 71 parents Free in-person Tummy Time Class is available weekly at Tremont Library in Upper Arlington Out of 232 short term survey respondents: 94% extremely satisfied, 5.2% very satisfied 2 new insurance plan options are now available for many Cigna and VA Veteran plan holders Students/Interns learning with Nuture: 1 Occupational Therapy Capstone Student, 2 IBCLC Interns, and many OSU Midwife & Women’s Health students choose Nurture for their required lactation shadowing experience Hosted our first annual Skills Day with 18 parents/babies, 7 IBCLCs, & 2 interns Free Postpartum Planner tool created Hosted a table at the Ohio Lactation Consultant Association Annual Conference Allyson was a key contributor for “Development and interrater reliability of the Lactation Assessment Care Tool (LACT)” published in the Journal of Human Lactation Thank you for a great year to our friends, families, clients, and colleagues!
