2 questions for all of the amazing NICU nurses and Lactation Consultants out there...if you have the time I really would love to hear your incredible insights ?? As a legal nurse and past OR nurse, I'm extremely aware how divided the medical and legal worlds are. We would use products and devices in the operating room and one day they'd just "poof" go away...they'd never explain to the staff it was due to a lawsuit. ?1?? Have you heard of the Baby Formula/NEC lawsuit? ?? IMPORTANT - This lawsuit is NOT against nurses or docs. This is against the billion dollar baby formula companies who have chosen profits over the health and safety of premature infants. ?? See article below. Abbott (maker of Similac) is ordered to pay $495 million dollars. Yes, you read that correctly...495 MILLION ?? ?2?? Has ANY change occurred in NICUs yet? "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." - Maya Angelou Since Fall of 2020, our team of NICU nurses and Lactation Consultants at Nurses Still Care have worked thousands upon thousands of hours assisting lawyers on this lawsuit: completing hundreds of reviews, finding/connecting NICU families to lawyers, hosting educational webinars, compiling medical research, locating testifying experts, etc. I want to live in a world where babies' lives are more important than a company's profits. A world where parents, doctors, and nurses don't have to question the safety of a product made specifically for babies. https://lnkd.in/eTWp9U7B

She showed up and found him dead. He had heart failure, but was offered a surgery to implant a heart device to help prolong his life. What a gift…more time on this Earth hanging with the kids and grandkids. Another chance at life. She was there to check up on him after his surgery. She walked in and alarms were blaring…and it was too late. He was already gone. 19,000+ other people had the faulty device (known as HVAD) implanted PRIOR to the FDA recalling it. The surgery to remove it is so risky both Medtronic and the FDA advise against it. So it’s just left in place for 19,000+ people…all left wondering…will it stop working on me? Can you even imagine the amount of fear they face daily wondering this? Many patients have already died. And many patients have sued Medtronic, the creator of the faulty device and a company worth 107 billion. The home health nurse in this story that showed up to find her patient already gone happens to be one of our law nurses. And now years after her home health days are long behind her she’s running our latest project, HVAD. Our law nurses are reviewing tons of these cases, each one sadder than the previous. I want to live in a world where human lives are more important than a company’s profits; a world where patients, doctors, and nurses don’t have to question the safety of a device made specifically to prolong someone’s life. But until that world is created, myself and all my fellow law nurses will continue standing up to help those harmed. When the world has stopped caring, NURSES STILL CARE.

How many babies need to die for change to occur? A parent’s worst nightmare come true. A mother lost one of her twin preemies. Her baby died after developing Necrotizing Enterocolitis (called NEC for short) after being given baby formula in the NICU. This case went to trial, and yesterday, the jury found the billion dollar baby formula company, Mead Johnson, to blame. The family was awarded 60 million dollars. You read that correctly. 60. Million. Dollars. Did you know? - Statistics show at least one baby dies every single day from NEC - Studies show premature babies given cow’s milk formula are five times more likely to get NEC than those who get human milk only - And parents, doctors, and nurses are not warned of the increased risks by formula companies Yesterday was a day that made history for preemies everywhere. It was one step closer to changing the way preemies are fed in NICUs nationwide. Don’t we all want to live in a world where babies’ lives are more important than a company’s profits? A world where parents, doctors, and nurses don’t have to question the safety of a product made specifically for babies. Word of mouth is powerful. Help take a stand with Law Nurses! Here’s how you can help create change: If you know of a family that had a premature infant become sick or die from a gut issue, they may have been diagnosed with NEC. Sometimes NEC is treated with antibiotics, other times surgery. Have the family contact our nurses at www.law-nurses.com. Our team of nurses have worked thousands upon thousands of hours on this lawsuit for the past three and half years. We provide a free consultation, answer any questions about the lawsuit, and connect families to TOP lawyers who not only CARE like we do, but will fight for justice. Please note, there is absolutely NO out-of-pocket cost throughout the entire lawsuit process. “No one can do everything, but everyone can do something, and together we can change the world!” - Ronald J. Baby Formula Recall: Again? For our nurses at Law Nurses, Mead Johnson’s Nutramigen new recall comes as no surprise.?We’ve reviewed close to 50 Baby Formula Recall cases and are ready to take on more! Powdered infant formulas are not sterile, so during processing, packaging and handling, there’s risk for contamination. Contaminated powdered infant formulas are typically the main cause of cronobacter infection in infants under 12 months old. And unfortunately, in premature or immunocompromised babies, especially in the first few months of life, cronobacter can be severe - life altering.? Parents - If your formula is recalled, DON’T throw it away!?Discontinue use immediately, but save the formula!?If your baby is hospitalized with cronobacter, ask to have your formula tested for the bacteria.?Multiple scoops need to be tested!?Cronobacter can colonize - meaning one scoop may come out clear, but the bacteria has gathered in one area of the can. So testing multiple scoops gives a better chance of finding the contamination. Attorneys - Whether you’re looking for Recall plaintiff leads or needing a med review, Law Nurses can help! Law Nurses plaintiff acquisition, the new era of lead generation…providing quality leads backed by the experience of our Registered Nurse team with over 25,000+ med reviews completed across 40+ litigations. https://lnkd.in/gNSXtyJx

Do what others say you can’t do. I’ve lost track of the number of times I was told what a nurse “can’t” do. A nurse can’t be a business owner. A nurse can’t work with lawyers. And the latest one… A nurse can’t be a marketer. Really? As I wrote this post a new lead just came in. I urge everyone…don’t play it safe, don’t follow the rules, and don’t stay in your lane. Be a disruptor and do what others think you can’t do.
