Nurse leaders - we need your help! Nurse leaders play a pivotal role in encouraging their nurses to register and vote, recognizing that active participation in the electoral process is essential for shaping healthcare policy. By fostering a culture of civic engagement, nurse leaders can empower their teams to advocate for policies that protect patient care, improve healthcare access, and secure necessary resources. Regardless of political affiliation, nurse leaders can emphasize the importance of nurses using their collective voice to influence decisions that directly impact the healthcare system. When nurse leaders promote voter participation, they strengthen the profession's ability to drive meaningful changes that benefit both patients and the healthcare community. Nursing includes "finding compassion for all and never letting interactions affect the quality of care" (Marian University). Nurses play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of LGBTQ community members by providing compassionate, nonjudgmental care and addressing their unique medical needs. By fostering an inclusive and respectful environment, nurses help reduce health disparities and improve overall outcomes for LGBTQ individuals. The NIH estimates members of the LGBTQ community are victims of violent hate crimes 8x more often than non-members. Let's care for all!
