Nunez & Nunez Consulting Services, Inc. (NNCS) is an organizational and community development consulting firm working to bring nature back into our communities by fostering sustainable community-led nature initiatives, transformative outdoor programs, and enhancing green space access for the holistic well-being of our urban communities. NNCS believes the land and water surrounding us and beneath our feet share stories of healing, lessons, growth, life, and inspiration. NNCS is dedicated to unlocking those stories and creating new ones for generations to come. Through long-term relationship building our firm maintains strong and impactful community, tribal, governmental, and non-governmental relationships. Providing the firm with a unique ability to facilitate increased cross-sector collaboration, support system change efforts, and establish regional project connections. NNCS is a Native-led and Native-owned consulting firm that shares a deep understanding and connection with the San Gabriel Mountains. Owners, Nathan & Kevin Nunez are documented lineal descendants of the San Gabriel Mountain village and clan, Xaapchivitam. Xaapchivit, a principal clan located in the heart of the San Gabriel Mountains, is one of two historical Serrano clans that occupy the Eastern San Gabriel Mountains: Xaapchivitam & Amutskupeatam. The Nunez family has eight generations of unbroken connectivity and relationship with the San Gabriel Mountains. This connectivity is shown through a deep oral history, cold water traditions, traditional gatherings, and active stewardship and protection of their ancestral homeland. This work has translated into involvement in many projects within Los Angeles County and their ancestral homeland of the Eastern San Gabriel Mountains.
