The Master of Project Management (MPM) program at Northwestern University synthesizes essential concepts of design and construction practice for the built environment with functional concepts of management and behavioral science. The program is founded on a multidisciplinary approach that prepares qualified professionals for project management roles in the diverse cross-section of organizations that facilitate design and construction in the private and public sectors. The MPM program addresses unique project management challenges by empowering students with the tools they need to direct major projects in today's increasingly complicated global construction market. MPM courses are taught by highly respected practicing professionals who bring a wealth of real-world experience and case histories to their teaching. Full- and part-time options are available. Successful completion of the MPM program leads to a Master of Science degree. It is intended for early-career professionals, with a minimum of one year of practical experience, who aim for a successful career in project management in fields related to the built environment.

London was undoubtedly calling last week when the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) #CTBUH2024 International Conference occurred at Barbican Centre. Describing just a few highlights is challenging since the program included a thought-provoking lineup of innovative project presentations and ample opportunities to network with the talented experts who lead the development, design, and construction of many of the world's most impactful tall buildings and urban habitats. I feel particularly inspired by the career reflections delivered by industry titans Ron Klemencic (Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Magnusson Klemencic Associates) and this year's lifetime achievement awardees SawTeen See (President, See Robertson Structural Engineers LLC); John Zils (Senior Structural Consultant, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM)); and Santiago Calatrava (Founder, Santiago Calatrava LLC). Witnessing their success motivates my professional journey and reinforces my commitment to supporting our industry's current and future leaders by delivering a high-impact curriculum in the Master of Science in Executive Management for Design and Construction at Northwestern University. The Council also celebrated Antony Wood, Ph.D (who is stepping down after 20 years of successful leadership) and an impressive collection of award-winning projects. Congratulations to #21Moorfields for taking home the Structure Award, and big thanks to the Structures Award Jury (D. Kirk Harman, PE, SE, SECB, FACI, Dmitri Jajich, Jennifer Anna Pazdon, PE, John Tessem, John Viise, and Kye Taylor) for the thoughtful debate that enabled us to recognize how the project’s approach between its structural engineers and collaborative team resulted in bold solutions for tackling a highly complex site.
