This week, the Nuestra Casa team had the opportunity to meet with Senator Josh Becker and his staff to share more about our work. We discussed our advocacy and programming efforts focused on environmental justice, housing, and the safety net—all essential to building a stronger, healthier community. Our Women on the Rise Business Incubator Pilot Program provides the guidance, resources, and confidence participants need to explore entrepreneurship, thanks to dedicated mentors like our board member, Gonzalo Torres, Esq. (He/Him/ el). Through personalized mentorship, participants gain insights from Sal’s extensive expertise as he supports them in navigating the entrepreneurial journey with confidence and clarity. Sal’s commitment shines through as he helps them understand the business landscape, reflect on their strengths, and take meaningful steps toward their goals. This program empowers low-income women to explore their potential, gain transferable skills, and consider pathways to business ownership or career growth. We are looking for a passionate Environmental Justice Bilingual Promotora to empower our community through education, advocacy, and outreach! This role is vital to spreading environmental justice knowledge and building trust within East Palo Alto and surrounding communities. About the Position: As a Promotora, you’ll connect community members to environmental justice resources, support outreach events, and collaborate with partner organizations. If you’re bilingual, deeply committed to social justice, and familiar with the needs of our community, this role could be for you! Qualifications: - Bilingual in English/Spanish - Passionate about environmental justice and Nuestra Casa’s mission - Strong communication skills and community ties - Able to work evenings and weekends as needed Compensation: $24-26/hr, part-time (10-20 hours per week). This project is co-developed by East Palo Alto Community Alliance and Neighborhood Development Organization (EPACANDO) & MidPen Housing Corporation , transforming a long-vacant lot into a vibrant community space with access to the Rail Spur walking path.
