A Call to Support Undergraduate Research Today's undergraduates face growing challenges in accessing research opportunities. With recent funding cuts and shrinking undergraduate research programs, students are losing the critical experiences that shape their careers and contributions to science. Without action, we risk sidelining our future innovators before they even begin. Nucleate Dojo, our undergraduate initiative, is calling on universities, funding agencies, and industry leaders to commit to sustaining and expanding financial support for undergraduate researchers. Investing in these students ensures that those with the passion and potential to drive scientific discovery have the opportunity to do so, regardless of financial circumstances. We need your help: ?? Like, comment, repost! ?? Read the full letter: https://lnkd.in/eGzbDEzc ??? Sign here: Shttps://lnkd.in/eiWabbcx ?? Suport Dojo Grants: https://lnkd.in/etgTiEHS We are actively seeking collaborators, partners, grants, donors, and/or sponsors to support our Dojo Grants programs. DojoGrants is an initiative run by Nucleate Dojo, designed to financially enable U.S. and Canadian undergrads to pursue life sciences-related research opportunities in U.S.-based labs and institutes. Nucleate Dojo’s mission towards improving undergrad biotech education and involvement has led it to commit attention to undergraduate research opportunities. In 2022, we surveyed a diverse group of 80+ undergrads to find that while research experiences are of high demand, 37% of students face financial barriers in pursuing them, as most of these opportunities are either unpaid or severely underpaid. Our mission is to disrupt this paradigm and empower any undergrad, regardless of their circumstance, to work on exciting problems in science. The next generation of scientific breakthroughs is coming. With your support, Nucleate can help lead the way in ensuring undergraduate researchers have the resources they need to succeed! ??Convince with Your Pitch! ?? Nucleate New York recently partnered with External Affairs for a hands-on workshop which helped our Eco Track founders uncover the storytelling assets within their research. Through this event, our teams were able to communicate the distinct value of their unique startups in a way to invite investors, stakeholders and customers to support and celebrate their work! External Affairs is a creative agency for the environmental and life sciences. The agency is led by Melody Stein and Justin Morris-Marano. This event was hosted at NEW INC, the New Museum of Contemporary Art's creative incubator for people working across art, design, and technology. #Startups #PitchDeck #Storytelling #Innovation #NEWINC #Entrepreneurship ??

Nucleate New York joined External Affairs for a workshop on how to build creative communication assets for convincing pitch decks. Our workshop empowered the 25’ Eco track with the skills necessary to identify and leverage the storytelling assets hidden within their research in order to communicate in a more compelling and tangible way. As the site of biotech’s application extends toward environmental and land-based technologies, organizations of all sizes must leverage creative projects that provoke strategic partnerships, position their business as both forefront and rigorous, drive funding, and ultimately shorten time to deployment. Nucleating the NYC biotech ecosystem ??
Applied was a year-long project built to support the interdisciplinary and applied sciences. Over 8 editions, we played good music. We drank an incredible amount of sake. We kept the lighting right. We made an immersive wall projection from our favorite artworks and research clips. We welcomed over 1200 unique guests from across New York and partnered with organizations like Nucleate New York, Columbia Alumni Association Global Health & Wellness Network, Genspace NYC, BIOTECH XYZ, Biotech Without Borders, The Chemists' Club, Columbia University Postdoctoral Society, The Innovation Space, and GROW Externships. Over 8 editions, Applied became a space where teams formed, collaborations launched, and group chats sustained conversations. We heard about job offers and career pivots that traced their roots back to a chance meeting at Applied. Vol 8 was the final Applied, but we’re already working on what’s next and how we can evolve the scene we’ve built together into something richer and with even greater value for the community that filled the room with each gathering, and for NY sciences at large. Love to everyone who made it possible. See you soon. Applied Vol 1-8 Creative Direction, Event Strategy & Production: External Affairs Core Team: Justin, Melody, Max, Danny Photography: Manuela Drink Sponsors: curious elixirs, Brooklyn Kura Notable contributions from: Harshit, Chichi, Joseph, Vikas, Steven, Jessica, Tara, Yangjingyi, Alexia, Jessica, Casey, Sky, Bridget, Vanessa, Amy, Dario, Margaret, Roland, Sailee, Raquel, Vidushi, Jeremy, and Samuel.
