Regional Symposia co-chairs Ambika Goel Bajpayee and Abby Koppes PhD of Northeastern University College of Engineering, are hosting the 2024 Society For Biomaterials Northeast Symposia on September 19th & 20th at Northeastern University. Symposia programs will include shared plenary speakers with content accessible remotely across the country. Participants will include faculty and student populations of the respective host institutions, while also featuring regional presentations, speakers, and posters. Vineel Kondiboyina, PhD'24, bioengineering, focused his research on the mechanobiology of limb growth. Helna Mary Baby, a BioE PhD student, is one of only six students worldwide to earn the prestigious IBSA Foundation for scientific research Doctoral Fellowship to continue her work on developing novel gene delivery system to treat osteoarthritis. A team of bioengineering students are participating in the International Genetically Engineered Machine Foundation global competition that showcases synthetic biology projects. The iGEM student team is developing a solution that would make compost smell like mint and lavender by targeting the microbial process.
