U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves will kick off IORS with a keynote about the U.S. government’s strategy to advance secure, resilient, and trustworthy networks globally on Tuesday, September 17. Today, the Biden-Harris Administration released the Roadmap to Enhancing Routing Security report.? NTIA is pleased to have been part of the interagency and stakeholder collaboration that led to these recommendations.? This report shows that we are realizing decades of work on network security, and that we are making real progress. Every network should secure their address space with Route Origin Authorizations (ROAs), and large networks should validate Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing announcements against (ROAs) and filter invalid announcements.?We are grateful to the Internet community for their tremendous work in advancing routing security. We were so honored to host local and national dignitaries, industry and community partners, and leadership from our parent company, Fujikura Ltd. at our Duncan, SC headquarters, in celebration of our latest expansion project. Our President & CEO, Jaxon Lang, shared details around the $50 million expansion of our fiber optic cable manufacturing operations in the state. This investment aligns with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Internet for All initiatives to increase broadband access in the U.S, which supports our portfolio of products compliant with the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA). Steve Benjamin, Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the The White House Office of Public Engagement, spoke on the importance of bringing broadband access to rural America and the Internet For All Initiative, which will provide more than $48 billion for infrastructure deployment. Closing comments were led by Sarah Morris, Deputy Assistant Secretary Department of Commerce (National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). She shared more around the Infrastructure Program - reinforcing that everyone who needs high-speed internet will be able to understand and access it, especially in rural areas.
