Please join us in honoring and remembering two of our brave NSO warriors, ND1 James E. Reyher and ND2 Ryan P. Harris, who were killed in training on this day, February 26, 2013 in Aberdeen, MD. ND1 Reyher and ND2 Harris’ names are engraved on the?Navy Special Operations Memorial?Pillars alongside their?Navy DeepSea Diver?brothers, who were killed in the performance of their duties.
ND1 JAMES E. REYHER
ND1 Reyher enlisted in the Navy, answering the call to serve in May 2008, completing Navy Diver Second Class School the following year.
He served in Everett, WA, from 2009 to 2012 and reached the rank of Navy Diver First Class Petty Officer in 2013. ND1 Reyher was assigned to multiple diving operations, was a renowned Battle Damage Repair team member, and deployed to US Pacific Command, where he trained Royal Thai Navy Divers on surface-supplied diving operations.
In April of 2012, James transferred to?MDSU2?in Virginia Beach, where he qualified as a Diving Salvage Warfare Specialist and was an integral member of the U1105 Naval Archeology mission in Milwaukee, WI.
ND1 James E. Reyher's awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (two awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Commendation - All of which are a testament to his skill and dedication to his country.
ND2 RYAN P. HARRIS
ND2 Harris answered the call to serve in June 2007. He successfully completed dive training and was designated a Navy Diver in April 2008. ND2 Harris served at Navy Submarine Support Facility in New London, CT, from 2008 to 2011 before reporting to MSDU-2 in June 2011.
Ryan's bravery resulted in numerous awards, including the Navy and Marine Corps Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (two Awards), the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terror Service Medal.

ND1 Reyher and ND2 Harris’ names will forever be honored, and their story and ultimate sacrifice will ALWAYS be remembered!
