For 40 years, NCBiotech has been committed to building North Carolina's global life sciences leadership with its first statewide office established 2 decades ago in the Piedmont Triad and Winston-Salem community. ? NCBiotech has programs that help entrepreneurs and startups thrive and has invested in more than 279 North Carolina life sciences companies through its loan and convertible note programs. Companies receiving investment from NCBiotech's loan program have raised $8 billion, or $132 in follow-on funding for each $1 invested by NCBiotech. Its investment portfolio includes companies in therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics, health IT, ag tech, and other areas of the life sciences. ? Additionally, the organization hosts the NCBiotech Venture Challenge, a biennial competition awarding $300,000 to life sciences ventures, with awards presented at Triad BioNight. In 2024, BRINTER, a 3D bioprinting company and NSF-PTRM Engine partner was a regional finalist and won the Triad BioNight Entrepreneurial Excellence Award. Last month, the NSF-PTRM Engine proudly participated in the largest #ConvergeSouth conference yet, held in Winston-Salem. Karen Barnes, from our PTRME leadership team, engaged with numerous startups, sparking valuable discussions on regenerative medicine and exploring potential collaborations. We were excited to join Engine Partners BMI OrganBank, FetTech, BRINTER, Innovation Quarter, and North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech) at this exciting event! The conference featured expert-led sessions on Applied AI, Go-to-Market Strategy, and Fundraising, plus a startup expo with 75 companies and direct pitch opportunities to investors from across the Southeast.
