The National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) announced the publication of an interactive map featuring the 198 investments explicitly advancing place-based innovation made by NSF and the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). The map features investments made through the NSF Regional Innovation Engines (NSF Engines) as well as those made through EDA’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge (BBBRC) and Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hubs) programs. The assessment highlights the innovative technologies, practices, and strategies necessary to combat climate-related threats. These include advanced grid control systems, next-generation desalination, resilience hubs, and predictive analytics, which can transform our approach to climate resilience. By focusing on these game-changing technologies, the assessment aims to drive transformative positive impacts, create good-paying jobs, improve community well-being, and advance environmental justice. This week we had the pleasure of attending the FusionForge event hosted at the Colorado State University Energy Institute, featuring collaboration with Innosphere, RISE Fusion, and the Energy Hub. The event focused on exploring the potential of developing a Fusion incubator program, an initiative that promises to drive innovation and growth in the fusion energy sector ? The outcomes of FusionForge will be meticulously documented in a report for the DOE Office of Technology Transitions (OTT). This report will play a crucial role in evaluating funding for the proposed FusionForge accelerator, which aims to bolster the fusion energy supply chain and support groundbreaking advancements in this field. ? Tillman brings extensive experience in leadership coaching, development, and research administration, aligning with the mission to advance climate resilience. Drawn by the team’s passion and commitment, Tillman aims to make a significant impact at CO-WY Climate Resilience Engine. Her goals include promoting a culture of acceptance and respect for diversity and ensuring equitable hiring and promotion practices. Tillman plans to support the Engine’s efforts in providing economic benefits to distressed communities by fostering support in the preparation, submission, and management of funding opportunities.
