NRUCFC (National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation)

Following hurricanes Helene and Milton, CFC made donations to electric cooperative employee emergency assistance funds in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee and is also working with Georgia’s statewide association to provide their electric cooperative employees with financial assistance. In addition to supporting statewide associations, CFC is working with nearly 30 electric cooperatives across the five states to put in place emergency lines of credit to ensure they have quick access to funds to support their restoration and recovery efforts.

CFC is proud to celebrate National Co-op Month! Being part of a #cooperative means being part of something special. Each year, we celebrate our unique business model in October, which is National Co-op Month. This year, CFC, along with 40,000 other cooperative businesses, will pay tribute to our organizational structure with the theme of “The Future Is Cooperative.”

CFC Vice President of Utility Research & Policy Jan Ahlen and District 7 Director Darick Eisenbraun (CEO of High Plains Power Inc.) recently presented CFC and NCSC Educational Fund checks totaling over $17,000 to the Wyoming Rural Electric Association (WREA) at the WREA Fall Conference. CFC Educational Fund money is distributed through electric cooperative statewide associations to be used for a variety of educational efforts, including videos, training programs, youth camps, scholarships, exhibits and advertising efforts. CFC honors and recognizes the work and contributions of laborers to the U.S. CFC offices will be closed Monday, September 2, in observance of #LaborDay2024.

CFC's Mo Saleh and Brian P. Stagen, CPA recently attended the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC) 2024 Annual Meeting in Springfield, Illinois. Mo and Brian presented CFC and NCSC Educational Fund checks totaling $32,400 to AIEC CEO Craig Sondgeroth. In addition, for the 8th consecutive year, Brian presented a check to support the Illinois Hurt Lineworker Fund to Jim Miles, AIEC vice president of Training, Safety & Loss Control. CFC Educational Fund money is distributed through electric cooperative statewide associations to be used for a variety of educational efforts, including videos, training programs, youth camps, scholarships, exhibits and advertising efforts. Last week, CFC hosted a brand-new?CEO Development Program?in partnership with GreatCo-Ops?at our headquarters in Dulles, Virginia. 23 new cooperative CEOs from across the U.S. attended this unique training opportunity, which aimed to equip leaders with the skills, tools, mindset and network to be more effective #cooperative executives. Many thanks to all of the presenters and participants!

Karen Whaley was named the second-quarter CEO Excellence Award Winner for 2024 for her outstanding accounting work on behalf of CFC. Karen was nominated by five of her co-workers for her outstanding contributions to the successful launch of a major project for CFC and its members. “Karen’s knowledge of CFC’s business operations and underlying systems has been critical for the project and a major factor in its success,” wrote one co-worker. Another strongly echoed that praise: “Karen is a critical subject matter expert and role model for CFC business systems operations. Her business impact is well beyond the size of her role. She is an expert in who we are as employees and business groups, how we operate through business processes and technology, and who we do it for by understanding our individual member’s needs. It is a powerful combination of skills that few, if any other, employees possess.” The CEO Excellence Award program recognizes staff for their outstanding performance and exceptional commitment to CFC. Nominations are accepted from staff and managers across the organization. Award recipients receive a cash award, special recognition and a prime parking space at CFC headquarters in Dulles, Virginia.
