The Economic Development department recently published its city-wide development report, detailing new and upcoming development in NRH. Sections include information on transportation projects, commercial additions, and the growth of our residential community. During the past year, the city welcomed over 90 new businesses, a net increase of 45 businesses, and processed 77 new development applications. Yesterday, the NRH Economic Development Department and Council Member Matt Blake participated in Global Entrepreneurship Week, a worldwide movement celebrating entrepreneurs across hundreds of cities through events and coordinated activities. Approximately 75 local entrepreneurs and small business owners spent the day at Caddo Office Reimagined attending six “standing room only” sessions and events designed to educate, inspire and connect with one another. Malibu Jack’s indoor theme park is planning their first Texas location in North Richland Hills at 8651 Airport Freeway, in the former At Home building. Currently operating 4 locations across Kentucky and Indiana, Malibu Jack’s is an indoor family entertainment center that provides fun for all ages with indoor go-karts, laser tag, mini golf, bowling, indoor coasters, arcade games, tasty eats and drinks, and much more! Malibu Jack’s parent company, Five Star Parks & Attractions, hopes to close on the property this summer and if all goes as planned, they will open in mid-2025. A few years back the city trusted the NRH Economic Development Department with the opportunity to facilitate the sale of the former NRH City Hall. Fortunately, a creative buyer partnered with a creative business in Platinum MUSIC Complex NRH to create the largest recording and rehearsal studio in the US. Yesterday was special as Economic Development Director Craig Hulse had the opportunity to interview the owner of Platinum, Duane Tyree, as part of the city's 1 Million Cups NE Tarrant entrepreneur network.
