I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend the Neuroendovascular Surgery Techniques Course for Fellows in Memphis this past weekend, organized by the Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF). I was honored to be selected as a stipend recipient for this course through the Residency Exchange Program by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS). A big thank you to both the EANS and AANS for enabling this enriching educational experience. Their commitment to advancing neurosurgical education and fostering international collaboration is truly inspiring. The Neuroendovascular Surgery Techniques Course, held from November 8-10, 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee, was an extraordinary success, drawing participants from institutions across the country and Europe. Co-directed by Dr. Mandy Binning and Dr. Lucas Elijovich, this comprehensive program offered an unparalleled hands-on experience in advanced neuroendovascular techniques, utilizing swine models and flow systems to build upon skills in treating conditions like aneurysms, AVMs, and acute strokes, as well as insights into the latest tools and complication avoidance strategies. Dr. Ralph G. Dacey, Jr. served as Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University School of Medicine from 1989 to 2021, holding the prestigious title of Edgar A. and Margaret J. Sandritter Professor of Neurosurgery. A prolific researcher, Dr. Dacey has published extensively on cerebrovascular diseases, arteriovenous malformations, and brain aneurysms, contributing over 200 publications to the field. His research on cerebral blood flow and the role of cerebral arteries has significantly influenced clinical practices for managing complex cerebrovascular conditions. Dr. Dacey has also held prominent leadership positions and is known for his dedication to neurosurgical education, contributing his expertise to several esteemed journal editorial boards.
