I had a great day of learning and networking attending my first Spectrum Conference hosted by the Nonprofit Marketers Network-STL. I attended insightful and inspiring sessions on message mapping framework, authentic voice in storytelling, organizational buy-in/change management, and human design, (just to name a few). There were many takeaways that I'm excited to explore further and implement in my own work. It was wonderful to reconnect with former and new colleagues from the Missouri Botanical Garden after so long: Kristina DeYong Emma Adkisson Kristine Gruver, MA, CFRE Natalie Marvin Funmi A. Nonprofit Marketers Network-STL Spectrum 2024 was an INCREDIBLE experience for me!!! Thank you, Shannon Durio, President, for the invitation to give the morning keynote, The Power of Words: Authentic Voice in Storytelling. It is my desire that each listener embraced the charge to “Follow their yellow brick road.” and/or “In their own way, be a lion [love].” I learned so much from the various workshops including how to cultivate donors, multiple ways to use media to tell the Believe story, and discovering I am a Manifesting Generator personality type! (smiling) All this information can be helpful in shaping our organization for scaling. It was also wonderful to see so many good friends in St. Louis’ nonprofit ecosystem and spend the day with them! Thanks so much Nonprofit Marketers Network-STL for having me at the 2024 Spectrum Conference. It was such a great conference and I met so many new people and had a great time sharing some of my experiences in marketing! :)
Wrapped up my final Spectrum conference as Board President for Nonprofit Marketers Network-STL and my heart is full. Career milestone: I changed out of my heels and put tennis shoes on at 2pm - a first for me (last pic)! What a labor of love this conference has been, planned and executed by a small but mighty team of volunteers. Thank you to every board member and committee member who sacrificed so much time to make the event possible. I’m looking at you, Brittni Snidle, MA, Jenny Beatrice, and Diane Droege, MA. We had an incredible lineup of speakers, a fun and engaging sponsor crew, and the perfect venue at Webster University. Nearly 200 people attended throughout the day – a post-Covid record for us. Every year, our board tries to find new presenters so that our community has the chance to hear different perspectives. We bring in tenured experts, but also are intentional in giving emerging leaders the opportunity to grow by giving them a platform to speak – sometimes for the first time in their career. It’s given us the most diverse, engaging portfolio of thought leaders in STL and I am so proud. I didn’t get the chance to chat with everyone, but I know the connections made at Spectrum last far beyond the actual day. Thank you to Julius B Anthony – one of the most authentic leaders you’ll ever meet in St. Louis, for the morning keynote. Keisha Mabry Haymore (heyFRIEND) wrapped up the day with a knowledge-packed session with tactical tips for nonprofits leveraging Google. Every speaker in between was ??
