Our work focuses on listening to communities that are often overlooked, positioning patients and caregivers in places that matter, and training advocates to create change in their own communities. Now retired, he continues to share his expertise, helping individuals and organizations navigate both the financial and clinical complexities of the healthcare system. ???Jennifer Bute is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Indiana University Indianapolis.??Dr. Bute’s research centers on communication about health in interpersonal relationships and patient-provider interactions. Most of her work has explored issues of reproductive health, such as how people manage private information about topics like infertility and miscarriage. A significant budget resolution vote is happening in the US House of Representatives today, 2/25, that proposes to cut spending by $880 billion, with most of the cuts expected to come from the Medicaid program. There is no way to make cuts of this magnitude without taking healthcare away from seniors, children, and people with disabilities and chronic health conditions.
