This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the things that make us human – the values we fight for. We are grateful for the head and the heart we have that help us choose to respect dignity, love, and justice, that help us understand that these mean something. Choosing to value our humanity over anything else doesn't make everything easy, and it doesn't mean we don't hurt. It means we know what is worth giving thanks for. So we will borrow some words from Maya Angelou, a master of thanks-giving: ??"My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. Continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart." And we wish you, no matter where you are, the gift of gratitude for being yourself. We're grateful for you every day. We are endlessly thankful for you—our community of supporters, advocates, and friends. Your kindness and dedication bring hope to millions in Ukraine. ???? Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Nova Ukraine. #Thanksgiving #Gratitude #StandWithUkraine #NovaUkraine

As 2024 marks a decade since Nova Ukraine’s founding, we are proud to be recognized by our local community as we continue to raise awareness of the war in Ukraine. During International Democracy Month, we remain committed to our mission of assisting Ukraine in creating a “strong, flourishing nation with an empowered civil society.” Our efforts have aided Ukraine with various essential life-changing projects. Without the help of supporters like you, this work wouldn’t be possible. This proclamation recognizes and honors our supporters just as much as it honors us, and for that, we at Nova Ukraine humbly thank you.

Safe Spaces for Ukraine: Bomb Shelter Constructions In Ukraine’s high-risk regions, daily air raids and relentless shelling put lives in constant danger. Nova Ukraine’s Safe Spaces initiative will build bomb shelters along Ukraine’s most affected border regions, including Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk, offering protection for children, women, and men from the harsh reality of ongoing attacks. Your Contribution Will Make a Difference on the Ground: $13,000 funds the construction of one shelter, creating a secure refuge for 20-30 individuals. 1-Month Construction: Each shelter is built to last and can be completed within one month. Safe Space for All: Children, families, and communities can seek refuge from the daily threats they face. Every dollar you contribute builds hope and provides a life-saving refuge for Ukrainians in the line of fire. Together, let’s create safe spaces! #givingtuesday, #sheltersforukraine, #supportukraine

Today, russian forces launched a missile strike on the heart of Odesa with an Iskander-M ballistic missile. The attack injured 11 people. One woman is in critical condition, while others sustained moderate injuries and are receiving care in the hospital. This brutal strike targeted civilian infrastructure, leaving a trail of destruction: residential buildings, cars, a dental clinic, a beauty salon, shops, flower stands, and personal vehicles. Two educational institutions—a school and a university sports hall—were also damaged, with shattered windows and doors. Thankfully, teachers and students were in shelters at the time. This senseless violence is a stark reminder of the daily terror faced by the people of Ukraine. Despite the damage, courage and resilience shine through. Local teams like Nova Stash are already on the ground, providing support and documenting the devastation. Please, stand with Ukraine. Speak out. Share the truth. Support relief efforts. Every voice matters in this fight for freedom and human dignity. #supportukraine, #ukraine, #ukrainenow, #support

On Nov 19th, all across the world Ukrainians and those who support us came together to commemorate 1000 days since the start of the full scale invasion. At the European Parliament Special Session, Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, honored the unyielding spirit of Ukrainian people: "1000 days of terror, suffering, and unimaginable loss. 1000 days of courage, resilience, and unbreakable spirit." In Washington DC, the day started at 9am with the arrival of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, at the Holodomor Memorial to lay down wreaths of wheat in memory of the Ukrainians we have lost to the genocides of the past and present. The Minister took the time to thank the diaspora for the aid they provided to Ukraine, noting that we are stronger when we are together. Later in the day Andrii Sybiha made an impromptu appearance at the Helsinki Commission. He called on the US to recognize the Russian war crimes in Ukraine as genocide according to the Geneva Convention. The Minister underlined that Ukraine is not willing to cede territory as that jeopardizes its sovereignty and threatens the wellbeing of Ukrainians under occupation. On the subject of occupied Ukrainians, Mr. Sybiha discussed the issue of repression of Crimean Tatar people who have been displaced multiple times from their native land by the Kremlin. Notably, Speaker of the House Emeritus, Nancy Pelosi, was in attendance to learn how the US could further help Ukraine. The US-Ukraine relations face significant uncertainty. However, the events in DC should be a great reminder that we will never be alone in this fight against evil. Our partners continue to show bipartisan bicameral support on the Hill as a reflection of incredible people they represent all across America. And our community will always come together and support each other as we have, as our ancestors have, and as our kids will.
