  • Congratulations to Luerssen Australia, the Commonwealth team and all involved in the successful sea trials of the?NUSHIP Arafura. This is a?significant milestone in the Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Program. Nova System’s #maritime team has been involved in the project for more than seven years supporting Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group. Our team played a pivotal role in the recent sea trials and throughout the construction of the new contemporary fleet of OPVs, offering extensive expertise in Test and Evaluation management, seaworthiness and acceptance, engineering management, and naval architecture. Nova Systems developed the comprehensive test plan and assisted the product integration, ensuring that the ships meet the stringent requirements and specifications of the Australian Navy and Defence Force. “We are thrilled to see NUSHIP Arafura successfully complete its sea trials,” James Luck, our Maritime Portfolio Manager, said. “Our involvement in this project underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable capabilities to the Australian Defence Force. All involved should be proud of their significant contribution to the enhancement of Australia’s naval and shipbuilding capabilities.” This new modern vessel is one of two OPVs being constructed in South Australia, with an additional four being built at Henderson in Western Australia. These OPVs will provide essential capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy. Nova Systems has been a long-term partner and remains committed to supporting the Arafura Class OPV Program. ?? credit Luerssen Australia. #WeAreNova #DefenceIndustry

  • The RSL's Defence and National Security Committee puts forward a compelling case for the need for an Australian #Defence prime. ? The time is opportune. ? It’s recently released paper “Building a Sustainable Sovereign Industrial Defence Capability” says bi-partisan support is needed for the development of Australian Defence Primes. ? “A viable Australian Defence industry is essential for the defence and security of the nation,” it states. “Australia needs, however, to return to a position where it does have its own national Defence Primes so that it can have a truly robust capability that can deliver capability to the ADF in a steady, cost-effective way with managed schedule and cost risks. ? “This should be an expectation of every Australian taxpayer. It is something that other G-20 economies take as a given.” Here's our CEO Dean Rosenfield's view: "Australia needs entities of scale that can integrate and sustain the critical capabilities, partner with global Primes and industry, and play a leading role bringing together and scaling Australian SMEs to support our Defence Force and national security priorities," he said. ? "When we consider sovereignty, regardless of the definition, it is about capabilities and people and how we utilise those skills to safeguard the nation.?? ? "Many nations much smaller than our own have transitioned to local capability. We need to focus on our own national security interests, as well as consider what we can export and contribute to our #AUKUS partners and other allies. ? "Nova Systems is the largest privately-owned Defence company in Australia.?We’re rapidly growing, have a strong supply chain and industry partners, with the added bonus of global reach. We have been a trusted partner to Defence for more than two decades. ? "As CEO, my vision is to ensure Nova is well positioned to help meet Australia’s national security priorities and support the realisation of the critically important AUKUS partnership, working with Government, industry and academia.? ? "I commend the RSL’s Defence and National Security Committee on its paper and look forward to continuing the conversation which is vital to our national interest."
