Dear BiotechND Network, The Biotech Club of Notre Dame has been busy.?On Friday, February 21st, we took approximately 30 club members on a career trek to Chicago.?We visited Amgen’s rare disease business unit (formerly Horizon Therapeutics) and ZS Associates, capping off the day with a group meal at Labriola.?Thanks again to our contacts for making the trek memorable and informative. We also recently hosted two club events on campus: 1.?Introduction to Life Science Consulting Presentation (Monday, Feb 17): Following a brief industry overview by one of our officers, we were joined by two 2024 Notre Dame alumni Dennis Hutchison (Lumanity) and Nicholas Buhay (Recon Strategy), who shared insights into the biopharma strategy space. 2. Guest Speaker Event with Kathryn King, PhD (Tuesday, Feb 25): Dr. King, one of our biggest supporters, joined us via Zoom to discuss her impressive career and lecture on the differences between “pharma” and “biotech.”?We look forward to having her back for future events. We hope this update finds you well.?If you or any colleagues want to engage more directly with the Biotech Club of Notre Dame, please reach out to [email protected]. Regards, BiotechND

Elucidating biotech careers to Notre Dame students and fostering a collaborative alumni network
关于我们
You don't have to practice as a medical professional or perform lab research in order to participate in the life sciences industry. We strive to educate students in Notre Dame's College of Science, College of Engineering, and Mendoza College of Business about the myriad of career possibilities in life science such as healthcare investment banking, biopharma consulting, equity research, venture capital, and broader industry. We host guest speakers, informative presentations, and annual career treks to locations such as Chicago and New Jersey. We have also partnered with the Notre Dame Life Sciences Chapter, the Minor in Science & Patient Advocacy (MSPA), the Career Center, and the IDEA Center. These partnerships have been invaluable, and we are excited to continue to collaborate on events going forward. Lots more to come.

So excited to host the Notre Dame Biotech Club today at our 2 Pru offices during their annual Chicago Trek. Joined by my colleagues and fellow Domers Sam VandenHeuvel, Addison Genenbacher, Kathleen Murphy, and Luke Sheridan-Rabideau, along with recruiter Vanessa A., we discussed ZS's history and strategy, shared project examples, and challenged the students with a consulting case study. Q&A and some networking over refreshements wrapped up the day. We were all very impressed with this sharp group of students - they have a bright future ahead of them. Always glad to engage with and support those from my alma mater. Go Irish!

Dear Notre Dame Biotech Network, This post is an update on our club's activity.?We have been busy curating meaningful events for students and alumni. We kicked off the semester with an “Introduction to Biotech” presentation, which garnered strong attendance from students in the College of Science, College of Engineering, and Mendoza College of Business.?We are making it a point to broaden our influence beyond the College of Science this year. On Wednesday, October 9th, we held a “Tips and Tricks of Networking” presentation to prepare members for engagement with alumni at a special networking event following the Rare Disease Patient Advocacy Summit held on Friday, October 11th. This networking event was a great success.?We would once again like to extend a massive thank you to our ten amazing panelists representing Dyne Therapeutics, Forbion, Zevra Therapeutics, BioMarin, Takeda, CureFA, Amgen, and the Chiesi Group. On Saturday, October 12th, we held a concession stand before the Stanford game as a means to continue to fundraise for the club.?It was great to engage with various club supporters.?The 49-7 game result was icing on the cake. Our next massive event will take place on Wednesday, November 20th.?Notre Dame professor Dr. Michael McConnell (MD/PhD) will be delivering a “Development and Commercialization of Drugs” presentation.?To provide a little background, after receiving his MD/PhD from the University of Michigan, Dr. McConnell moved to Sevilla, Spain, where he cofounded Vaxdyn, a company which develops vaccines for antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. Our spring semester will be jam packed with more events.?We are currently organizing a guest speaker series, a career trek to Chicago over spring break, and a late May trip to visit our ~80 alumni residing in the Boston area. Any Chicago or Boston companies interested in hosting about 40 club members during these times, please reach out to [email protected] and [email protected]. Regards, The Notre Dame Biotech Club
