12 days, and 2 international flights, 2 international train rides, and countless tube and metro stops. I’m heading back to San Diego. I’ve been up since 4:45am Paris time. It’s 1pm there now. I’m looking pretty good! Except that I don’t really look this refreshed or put together. It took 10+ takes to get this photo and about 3 minutes of editing with an app to get this picture out to you. We women do this a lot in the real world; touch up how we’re showing up so we look ok just fine. Smoothing out our edges. Broadcasting ourselves as rested, feeling great, having it all together when we’re not necessarily feeling all those things. There’s a cost associated with trying to photoshop how you’re doing. You’re less likely to get help. More likely to have extra responsibilities handed to you. Sometimes you even start to believe the lie or think you have to live up to it. You don’t say no, don’t ask for a break, forget that slowing down is one of the most important skills you need to master as a leader. Where are you blurring the fine lines of your life and leading people to believe you’re just doing perfectly fine? #WomeninLeadership #WomenCEOs #WomenInTheCSuite #WomenInFinance #London #Paris #ExecutiveLeadership #ExecutiveWomen #Coaching #SanDiego
